Quality tandem bike - happy with purchase!

Purchased for my husband’s 46th birthday. He LOVES it along with our kids who ride in the back! Five speed settings to help get up inclined roads. My suggestions to the company: get ride of the plastic front/rear mud guards, and invest in better/comfy seats. Oh, it was supposed to come with a bicycle lock (not sure of value) but we never received it.

All's well that ends well

The Micargi Raiatea tandem ebike is a good deal. It is sturdy, easy to mount (I'm 78, my wife is 72) rides smooth, and has great electric power. It is not clear from the ads, but the electric assist has 5 levels of electric peddle assist, PLUS when the peddle assist is set to zero there is a thumb throttle for cruising without peddling. This feature is great for getting started up hill and when you just don't feel like working. The power is pretty strong and quick and the battery lasts plenty of miles (advertised at 30 depending on terrain) - I haven't had to recharge it yet. So much for the bike.
Electric Bike Paradise had (has?) this bike at a great price. $700 off down to $1800 when all said and done plus $110 free heavy duty bike lock and phone mount. But you have to be either patient or smart or both. I assembled the bike with a poor download user manual from their web site that did not correspond in detail to this version of the bike, and their support (including a distributor in my area) were not much help. I finally rode it to a bike shop for adjustments and found that I had a few things backwards. They got it all put back together right for $100 - what it normally costs for a "box build" - and that's what the box warns you to do in the first place. So unless you are pretty experienced at building the bike without adequate instructions, take the box to a good shop. It took a while for the free lock and phone mount to arrive because after some email and phone followup they said the order had been mysteriously cancelled. After a month they arrived from Amazon. So like the heading says, All's well that ends well, and if you do things right and are persistent, you end up with a nice bike and a great deal.
